I thought that, too, but on reflection, it may not be that simple. Bezos is not tolerating this because he has empathy for those on the receiving end of some stuff that they shouldn't have to put up with. That leaves him being very un-empathetic with those who don't display empathy. Which, yes, is ironic.

Given the URL fragment /humor/ and the author's other pieces, I think this is indeed very dry satire.
