Is there anyway HN could set up something similar to AMA, without attracting a bunch of trolls, or would that be too much of a drastic change to this site?
We've been throwing ideas around for that, but it would be nice to find a format that is a little better-fitting for HN than straight AMAs. We had a mini-discussion about this recently. Let me see if I can find the link...

Here it is: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9945111

Two ideas. 1. Maybe use something like a question pool. User submit questions, and are allowed to upvote or flag existing ones, all while using HNs algorithm (probably modified slightly) to sort the questions. Then the interviewee responses to the top rated ones. 2. Set it up as an affiliated site (ie. Hacker Interviews). That way if it bombs it will likely have a smaller negative impact on HN.
Or just have someone heavily moderate the AMAs?

I am not sure how HN does it here but I assume they have a few

Just as a reminder, idea #1 is basically what Slashdot has done for ages -- seems to work for them.
What are you talking about? People have brought their pain points out and of course got PR speak in return. Zapnotes.exe
I found it rather mild considering all the suffering that IBM software is causing in users and developers.
Couldn't agree more, release sh!t products you'll get that response, especially when most are forced to use said products by their respective workplaces. It was a terrible AMA for the IBMers, they could have been more honest, but i don't think that would have swayed the mass of discontent.
