Misleading headline? The article talks about a "proposed rule", so shouldn't it say "FCC may ban"?
Given they couldn't be arsed to spell the misleading headline correctly, I'm sure they were more interested in posting the link first than writing accurate headlines.

dd-wrt is specifically mentioned by the FCC on Page 2 of the pdf:

"What prevents third parties from loading non-US versions of the software/firmware on the device? Describe in detail how the device is protected from “flashing” and the installation of third-party firmware such as DD-WRT. 6"

Why should the FCC care about being able to flash dd-wrt on a router?

Custom firmware allows you to turn up the power on radio antenna outside of the licensed spectrum for wi-fi.

Or they want to make sure that the NSA always has their backdoors installed.
