Ask HN: Is it still ok to build an app with a twit/tweet prefixed domain?

One example is the death of twitpic. Twitter might kill you twit-/tweet- sites in the future as well, so should I avoid using twit/tweet in domain? Or should just avoid building apps around twitter API?

You don't have an app if you build around the twitter API. Twitter has another app that you maintain. It's not YOUR business, it's theirs, and they can hold it for ransom anytime they want.
