This idea started around the HS Hackers community: please build your own clock at home and tweet #IStandWithAhmed, to remind him it is OKAY to bring this stuff to school. Let us encourage creativity, not break it down :).

I'm all for creativity. However, I have known plenty of people in my day that got suspended from school and/or taken home by the police for having guns that were replicas (IE: historical guns that can't fire any longer) and fake knives (a comb that is shaped like a switchblade).

Shortly after columbine, many people were also suspended for wearing trench coats.

Where was the outcry of support then? As soon as it is perceived that we are only singling out "brown people", the twitter brigades start marching.

I also don't believe this was racist in any way. The administration of the school, while stupid for thinking a clock was a bomb, was only looking out for the safety of the students.
