Ask HN: How do front-end Web developers showcase their work?
When I first built my portfolio site I did work that was more graphic design-heavy, and that's pretty easy to document: Take good screenshots or photos.
When it comes to web dev, though, I've struggled to display my work. Linking to the live site is problematic when the site is temporary or behind a login. Static screenshots are a bit cumbersome and don't always capture some of the details that make a site good: transitions, rollovers, animations.
That leaves GIFs, which are limited in color and tend to be pretty big, and video, which is also pretty heavy.
Anyone have any ideas here?
