Ask HN: Transition from freelance to salaried positions ( job search )

Hi HN,

I've been freelancing / consulting as a web developer / IT / anything tech related for SMBs since 2010. When I started the work / money / satisfaction was ok but right now I need more stability and looking for a traditional job.

Most of the work I did was very simplistic but brought value to the businesses so they paid me. Now as I search for a job I see big tech words, request for portfolios ( I'm covered by NDAs and mostly developed internal applications ), on site tests etc.

How do I get ready for this. I haven't practiced algorithms in years. I haven't interviewed for a job in 10yrs.
