Ask HN: Stable HTTP for unstable connections?
I'm working a lot in South-East Asia and usually I'm using a combination of unstable wifi connections and 3G to do my work and browsing. While my Mosh sessions, torrents, etc. work nicely on slow, unstable connections, HTTP really doesn't, as often I have to refresh pages again and again until everything is loaded.
Is there a proxy program I could install on a server and on my computer (Linux Mint) that would do the HTTP connections on the server, and transmit it to my local client that would keep the connection to my browser open until it's fully fetched? If not, could that work if I do it myself, or would connection timeouts cause trouble? Or could this be handled through a Mosh-like VPN, if there is one?
What solutions are other HNers working on unstable connections using?
