Ask HN: How do you get remote work as a Front-end Developer

Hello, I have been a lurker here for some time now. I wanted to know how people get remote web development work, I know that in the U.S and Europe remote work is almost normal. For a proficient front-end developer with 5+ years experience, located in West-Africa, highly motivated and can put in 6+hrs everyday and can even work for free to get my foot in the door. How does one go about it?
