Or you could just go outside and not get the trophies.

Edit: The fact that the only other activity on this post so far are reactions to this comment, or downvotes to it, kind of illustrates the point.

I think the same could be said for the vast majority of what HN contributors get up to, no need to point it out every time.
it's not always about trophies. There are tons of games where you can achieve meaningful success while also accomplishing another task or doing something more enjoyable (like go outside) through clever use of macros and rubber bands.. it is not ever easy, and is in a lot of ways a meta-game which has its own challenges and rewards.
Anything you "achieve" while doing something else seems highly unlikely to be "meaningful". Useful ingame? Perhaps. Meaningful? I doubt it.
Meaningful is a relative term.
I can give you a couple of examples from my personal gaming experience..

I used to play world of warcraft only for pvp (player vs player combat).

In that game, you can spend basically a full 40 hour week to make a character a suitable level for PvP. Or if you want to be ready for a wide variety of PvP types, you will create 3-5 characters this way over months. You also get to do this whole process again every year when they raise the level cap.

Or you can use a macro keyboard and be ready to compete during the first week of the PvP season while also having a job and hobbies.

In minecraft, say you need to connect two very distant bases with a bridge. You can painstakingly place every block by hand, and risk falling to your death and having to start over, and likely get some mild carpal tunnel, or you can set up a keyboard macro and come back later to a 2,000 block-long bridge.

It is meaningful in the sense that it can turn something which is annoying to the point it is becoming a chore back into something which you can enjoy as a game.

A lot of HN dwellers with high HN achievement points are getting a little sensitive here.
Why do that when you can go outside and get trophies? I'm pretty sure 2 is better than 1 so that's a strictly better plan.

Only level 12 by November 20th? The desire to play must not have been that strong. He already got side tracked with something that isn't getting him any more loot.
