Ask HN: Is there a tool similar to Heroku Dataclips for self-hosted databases?

We've been on Heroku for a while and have found Heroku Dataclips to be a very powerful tool for looking at statistics like user counts. I haven't been able to find anything similar for a database hosted on a typical cloud server. Are there are free/open-source alternatives to really expensive tools like Looker?
