Ask HN: Spritz speed reading apps – did they survive the test of time?

2 points by bizzleDawg ↗ HN
Way back in March 2014, Spritz [1] and a load of open source clones [2], like openSpritz generated a huge amount of buzz.

At the time I used it on a dozen articles or so and found I could read the words fast enough, but my comprehension dropped as I put up the WPM.

I still really like the idea of being able to get the words off the page faster.

a) Does anyone use a speed reading app like the aforementioned or bookmarklet on a regular basis still?

b) Are there any other better techniques out there for reading and (crucially) absorbing information fast?
