Can Thalmic and Pebble compete with this onslaught?

CES 2016 has revealed a huge array of wearables. The fitbit blaze, Under Armour/HTC bands, MS band 2, Misfit; And of course an Apple Watch 2 is just around the corner.

A long with that, some are incorporating gesture control as well, and even Sphero is jumping into the ring with its force watch.

This all begs the question, can hardware start ups like Thalmic and Pebble, who were leading there wearables division, still compete when all the big guys jump into the ring and give it there all.

In software, the big guys can have difficulty matching the growth of a young start up and its popularity, but in hardware everything moves slower and there are many more factors a start up must hone that leaves them susceptible to being passed by a big player.

What are your thoughts. Will the expensive and now somewhat not as unique tech from Thalmic and Pebble survive this onslaught?
