Ask HN: Was Roswell a Department of Energy Coverup?

Back around 1997-99, I came across a 100-page posting on some random newsgroup which told a spectacular, but incredibly coherent, story that explained Roswell (other alien encounters), the rise in cancer rates, the Kennedy assassination (and more) all stemming from the U.S. nuclear program. About a week after I first found the story it just disappeared and I've never been able to find it until this day.

Whether or not the story was actually true or not, I don't know, but I always thought it would make one great book or movie. Did anyone else ever come across this?

The guy claimed that he was a Senior scientist at Oak Ridge. Some explanations he gave were:

Roswell: CIA extracted pygmies from South America and put them in balloons for nuclear testing.

The Kennedy Assassination: The U.S. passed a bill that made Department of Energy's nuclear program a matter of national security. After Jackie had a miscarriage, JFK blamed it on their tours of nuclear facilities and wanted to seriously curb nuclear expansion. The Department of Energy felt like they had the legal authority to remove the President which lead to his assassination.

Alien Encounters: Stories about cars seeing bright lights, radio issues, and losing power in their vehicles were explained by EMP testing.

Increased rates of cancer (Maybe the most contentious): Explained by far greater testing of nuclear materials than had been official reported.
