Ask HN: Would a Canadian startup sponsor my work visa?

I am a 23-year old programmer from India. I am currently in Vancouver, looking for a job in Canada in front-end development / full-stack web development. I had quite a few promising leads with small-to-mid sized companies (10 - 100 employees) but so far none of them agreed to sponsor my work visa.

I went on a job hunt in the US before this, and it wasn't that hard to find startups to sponsor one's visa. However, I don't have a college degree, so that disqualifies me from even applying for a US work visa. I would have loved to work in the Bay Area. Since Canada doesn't have the same requirement, and getting work visa is much easier here, I thought I'd have luck here. I don't know any one here, either.

I'd much rather work with a startup, or a mid-sized company, but I wouldn't rule out a big company.

I'd like to think that I have a good resume. I don't have a college degree. I am 100% self-taught, and have been living off my side projects for over 4 years now (1st year I was broke).
