Autodesk, already a setter of hated precedents, gets worse

Autodesk set a precedent in customer hatred. Just as software patents exist because of an ignorant court ruling, Autodesk has used another to rip customers off for years when those customers try to recoup investment in software THEY PAID FOR.

For example, if you bought Autodesk software and decided that you didn't need it anymore (even if you never installed it or even opened the package) and posted it on eBay, an Autodesk lawyer will contact eBay and bully them in to taking your auction down. eBay, being spineless, will do just that. So you the customer are screwed by Autodesk.

And now Autodesk is going one further by making its sham software sales even more temporary.

Don't vote for this rip-off with your money.

Why can't posts have URLs and text? Brilliant, HN. Here's the link to Autodesk's manifesto: http://www.autodesk.com/products/perpetual-licenses
