Ask HN: A Question for Ethnographers (or Armchair Ethnographers)
I'm interested in understanding, at a deep level, the longitudinal day-to-day impact of technology on people's lives. To do so, I'd love to read some in-depth ethnographic narratives of the style: "A day in the life of a 20 year old white male in 1990" or "A day in the life of a 30 year old single mother in 2002", tracking through every year from perhaps the 1970s to today (even earlier if possible, I have no idea what's out there).
My question to those familiar with the Ethnography universe:
Are there accessible highly detailed Ethnographic narratives of the form "A day in the life of a 20 year old in San Francisco, during 1970, 1971, ..., 2015", with a different subject each year to keep the age constant, but drawn from a similar socio-economic + educational + ethnic background?
I have full academic journal access, so doesn't matter if it's pay-walled.
Thanks!
