Encryption control and gun control are equally as pointless. You can build a sten gun in your garage and some hard crypto in your bedroom.

The author doesnt understand firearms so he blames them, the average person doesnt understand encryption so they blame encryption.

Australia implemented "a massive buyback of more than 600,000 semi-automatic shotguns and rifles, or about one-fifth of all firearms in circulation in Australia." Also, gun buyers must "present a 'genuine reason' for needing each weapon at the time of the purchase. (Self-defense did not count.)" Given that 80% of the guns were still in circulation, how do you defend yourself from them without a gun?
