Ask HN: How can I learn to analyse business ideas?

1 points by estefan ↗ HN
I've got a couple of ideas for tech businesses, but in true lean style I don't want to waste my time. In fact, I want to be super lean - not even bothering with customer research if there are flaws in the business itself.

I've been reading "How to Build a Billion Dollar App" and I'm starting to realise what makes a business really profitable, but I feel there are many more factors I should be considering.

What are good resources - preferably books, but possibly online courses - to help learn how to evaluate business ideas? I'm familiar with SWOT analysis, but I'm looking for something to give me specific, in depth examples of all the factors that should be considered, perhaps along with case studies (e.g. is the business for task consumers do every day, is it solving a fundamental human need, perhaps it's low volume high margin, etc, etc.)
