The author completely misses Linus' point. The rant is about SHA in the context of kernel code changes in git. In that context, code changes must be human readable and plausibly correct. An artificial collision which fails the eyeball test is not a threat Linus is concerned with.
Early April 2015 - Torvalds makes this comment.

October 2015 - "The SHAppening" takes place, which is what the author uses as evidence that Torvalds is a moron.

Great argument.
