Ask HN: For those accepting credit cards, how bad are the fraud attempts?

I have a (modest) online service using Stripe and am honestly amazed at how much fraud is attempted through my site (again, I'm not some super popular site either).

Is this normal? I notice Badger shutdown today noting the same issue. Is this just the status quo? And I guess the answer is obvious, but this can't be stopped?

I get more attempted fraudulent charges than real ones (and I have all Stripe CC verifcations on)
