Interesting to note that in some cases, courts will not enforce a non-compete if the new employment occurs far away from previous employment. For example, if the exec moved from Seattle to Minneapolis.
Hopefully this helps to invalidate the enforceability of the non-compete in Washington state.
I'd be curious to see the exact wording of the non-compete agreement. Is it limited to specific industries? With Amazon involved in so many different sectors, it's hard to imagine any employee leaving and going to a company that in no way competes with Amazon.
