Ask HN: Developers who transitioned to project/product managers, are you happy?

I am a web developer and I am looking into opportunities to get into a product or project manager role. I know they're fairly different, but I think both would be a good match for my abilities.

For those who have made this transition, are you happy with it? Do you feel it's lowered your earning potential? Has your developer background given you an advantage over other project/product managers? Is getting a remote product/project manager position more difficult than developer jobs? Any advice for getting into one of these positions coming from a developer background?
