I think this is great.

But even more impactful would be pairing a move like this with a platform that automatically generates a form letter to send to the governor and state senate, so impacted people can express their outrage to the local government.

Just a simple embeddable link generator that floods the governor's inbox.

constituent services don't give a damn about emails or letters or texts or faxes.

Pick up the phone or don't bother.

The team I work with made the software that Wisconsin state legislators use to store their communications with constituents. None of our experience bears your statement out. Our software was built in close collaboration with legislators and their staffers, who requested the means to store and report on the contents of communications in a wide variety of formats.
I suspect that the ones you worked with were the exceptions rather than the norm, but it is good to know that there are exceptions to the norm.

I think it's bullshit. You only get 'outrage' over something that is politically safe. Where was the outrage over North Carolina's abortion restrictions? Or NC's voting rights restrictions? Or the number of things that have had regular protests going on almost since McCrory was elected?

Oh I forgot, those are politically touchy, but this bathroom thing is safe so everyone can make a big stink without worrying about any blowback and instead can use it for cheap points.

It's bullshit. No public figure is 'taking a stand' because they believe in it, they're 'taking a stand' because it's cheap publicity.

This law is very politically touchy. Outrage happens all the time for many different things. Plenty of people are willing to stake their very lives, let alone their livelihoods, over issues they believe in. If anyone doesn't need more publicity, it's Bruce Springsteen. He has it in spades any time he wants it.
> This law is very politically touchy.

No it's not. Only McCrory and some of the state government supports it. Basically, very literally everyone else from city governments, the state AG, other state governments and the Federal Government, grand standing celebrities and the state population are against it.

This is an incredibly safe position to take. No one is staking anything to take position against it.

Out of interest, what have you risked recently taking up controversial positions, publicly?
Come on - the Boss is doing something about one issue. It doesn't mean he has to do something on EVERY issue. One is better than none.

On top of that, bands make a lot of $$ on tours, so it's not cheap publicity by any means...
