Ask HN: Who will buy Dropbox?

Any theories or predictions, or do you think they won't be bought? Will they IPO or fail, then?

Microsoft? (But I have no clue.)
I think they'll IPO. Apple, Microsoft, Google and Amazon are already way invested in their own cloud storage platforms to change their infrastructure and nobody else has the cash.
You have forgotten about IBM, Oracle and SalesForce
Apple should buy. Apple has no foot in cloud services. They should get rid of iCloud and buy Dropbox. This will give Apple some ground in the cloud services
You know iCloud does a heck of a lot more than Dropbox does, right?
I never used iCloud. How does it compare to Dropbox?
That's kind of like asking how does Office compare to WordPad or how does Debian compare to Firefox.

The only part that compares really is iCloud Drive. It could be improved (what can't?) e.g. it's not always super fast to show updates on other devices, but honestly it's not enough of an issue for me to use another storage solution.

I pay for iCloud, never paid for Dropbox.
Steve Jobs has tried once, an offer which Drew Houston declined as he has told publicly on several occasions.

If it didn't make sense for him back then why should it today? If I'm not mistaken they're profitable so they're in no immediate need to be acquired.

Twitter did take out 3.5 billion for investing, but I don't see any useful applications for it.
