Ask HN: Python Linting and Static Analysis Best Practices?

I'm a huge fan of Pylint, but feel that I should be able to get much more out of it, especially for large projects. What Pylint tips do you have? What plugins / extensions do you use? What other tools do you use, that go beyond Pylint?

IDE's are out of scope.

I've used pyflakes and pylint and lately I prefer pyflakes. I've integrated it with atom but also used it in some build/CI rules.
