Notably, the "al" in algebra and algorithm really is the Arabic 'al-'— algebra and algorithm are latinized forms of al-jabr and al-Khwarizmi respectively.
I often wonder what people might think when they see me running i3wm with a couple of terminals open, dozens of lines scrolling every few seconds while I work away in Vim. Probably made worse if they see I am working on finance infrastructure projects!
This whole "if it looks suspicious then report it!" mentality is sad really. Everyone is brainwashed into treating everyone else like they are a criminal/terrorist.
Don't remember the source, but I read a few years ago about someone who was using Emacs full-screen on a laptop and drew attention because someone thought he was "hacking"
This has happened to me so many times at my school. Almost every time I open a terminal in class, someone makes a big deal about it, telling a teacher or everyone in the class I'm hacking something. Teachers don't usually know what to think though so they just ignore it.

No, sorry Trump isn't running anything yet. This is Obama's America and has been for the past 8 years.
