Why augmented reality isn't relevant and everywhere?

Actually I'm playing with AR in the browser, targeting Chrome and Firefox on mobile Android. With a small effort I think that I can have something interesting. AR was something some years ago, right? If Apple puts WebRTC in iOS Safari I think that could be again something very cool: I see thousands of applications.
