I like how this sets up by starting out with two myths that may have been overheard once or twice, but are not widespread, at all.
It's hard to be wrong when you're shooting paper towels in a barrel.
Oh nice, and then it goes on to not actually adress the myths at all, and tells people to read a book that doesn't either, but just contains generic code style practices.
Visual studio magazine? Yeah, I'm sure this will be a completely unbiased article. Sort of like how Nintendo Power is (was? does that magazine still exist? Fuck I feel old) completely unbiased.
Insider baseball here, but if you really want the inside scoop on the good and bad parts of C++, read both of these sites:
1. C++ Frequently Asked Questions Lite [1]
2. C++ Frequently Questioned Answers Lite [2]
I think it's important to note that not everybody agrees with either the FAQ or FQA sites, but this is a good jumping off point if you want to read the criticisms of the language itself.
The article is just a really short recommendation to check out Karpov's full book at this page: http://www.viva64.com/en/b/0391/
So, I'd say it would probably be a good idea to change the submission directly to that URL. The information at the viva64 link looks really good, but the visualstudiomagazine article doesn't really add any additional information besides "Check out this link, it's great"
And then the viva64 "book" is basically a list of open source projects with bugs in spotted by Karpov's pet static analyser. Very little of excitement to see here, just a grab bag of gotchas - pretty much like C++ itself. /runs for cover
