Ask HN: Adwords vs. Boosted Posts

This might be best saved for r/showerthoughts but it just dawned on me that Facebook boosted posts are like Adwords but without any transparency. You pay for your boosted posts to show up but people who see the post don't recognize this on the surface (advertisement not identified). Google could just as easily charge for a "SERP booster". Why do we allow this from Facebook?
