This is despicable and lazy and heartless and I'll make full use of it!

Framing a technical blog post as "lol girlfriends amirite" is not humorous and is never a good idea, and does the presented scripts a disservice.
Of course you have the right to say you don't find it funny and don't think it's an appropriate way to introduce code, but put some subjective terms like "I feel" rather than "it is." One acknowledges personal preference, while the other implies an objective truth-claim without the possibility for disagreement.
lol implies an objective truth-claim amirite?
Two second grammar lesson: who is the implied SUBJECT in the phrase "laughing out loud"?

Whereas if someone (not me, though) were to say "People named Mark always leave terrible comments because they have severe learning disabilities", that would be a truth-claim.

Your response to this technical blog post shows you have no concept of humor and is never a good idea, and does the presented blog post a disservice.
In an environment like ours where the split between genders is so drastic small bits of humor like this do less to make people laugh and more to help people who already feel excluded feel even more excluded.
Personally, I did find it funny, but then I think it would be no less funny as "lol boyfriends amirite".

But I say this from the perspective of the less oppressed gender. I think if I were on the other side, perhaps I would be disheartened by little things like this.

I think we all know when you stop to think about it, that when you're frustrated, or seemingly on the "losing" side it is much easier to become angered and increasingly frustrated by even mostly insignificant actions of those on the "winning" side. With that in mind, I find it's best to try to be extra compassionate when you find yourself on the fortunate side of chance.

Sorry to detour from technical discussion, and I see the title is now changed. Great blog post! Nice no nonsense expansion.

Being mean and telling people that it is only a joke, it's still mean. There are things a lot worse in the Internet, but that doesn't makes this good.

As an advise remember that your possible future company probably will check your online persona. Be professional, be fun but don't be mean.
