Ask HN: What technologies should I use for a bot and website results

[Goal]: Example scenario goal: I want to run a bot that scraps Hacker News for every title with the word "Spider" in it. Then I want to host a website that shows a chart over X time showing these spider counts. With links to HN article/comments.

[Potential thoughts]: I need something that can run a bot in a VM once per day?? What language/framework for bot or simple http query manual? Can this same Bot running VM also run the website? Should they be separate VMs or services?? Do I need a DB to store my numbers/links?

[Question]: What full stack of technologies/languages should I use to accomplish my goal?

[Experience]: Assume I have no previous framework knowledge and no prejudices, but overall capable programmer.

[Serious] This isn't a 'which one is best'. I would love each post to contain a full 'stack' of everything(techs/frameworks/links) I'd need to do the above task.
