Ask HN: How do I smarten-up my new house's heating system

2 points by passive ↗ HN
I've just bought a house with electric baseboard heaters, and an "analog" thermostat in nearly every room. Previously, I've only lived with a single thermostat, usually programmable.

I don't care for the idea of purchasing and configuring 10 programmable thermostats, because I would like some central control, and it seems expensive.

I also don't want to rewire the house to run all thermostat control lines to a central unit.

What I envision is a central unit connected wirelessly to a number of "dumb" units, which I can replace the existing thermostats with.

My googling skills failed to come up with an answer. Honeywell makes a line called Evohome, but it's strongly suggested this only works with central heating.

Anyone have any other suggestions?
