This is the logical end result of politics turned nasty - violent targeting of politicians of all stripes. It's about time we all stopped going after eyeballs and became about something greater. Giving air time to Trump, Farage and their ilk has consequences.

The media industry needs to take a good hard look at itself and ask if it's truly making the world a better place, or simply acting as an engine for lies, fear and intolerance.

There'll always be venues for hatred. There doesn't have to be a platform and megaphone for it.

So you don't think a US Presidential candidate deserves airtime on US media?
This is very sad news and shocking because such violence is very rare in the UK. Set against the backdrop of the Brexit referendum there are significant political overtones.

But, I flagged this story as I don't believe it warrants discussion here.

Interesting that this gets to the frontpage but there wasn't a mention of the Orlando incident.

Curious what makes it more relevant?
