Ask HN: When to get legal?

Hi HN,

I have been talking with my co founder about a new idea. We've talked about a 50/50 partnerships (equity) in an entity. This would have to be a corporation, as that is the only way I would do it. Is it best to incorporate before beginning to develop the product?
