greatest guitar solo st the very least. fun fact: Page had 3-4 differet solos worked up for the song originally. I'm somewhat curious about the ones that didn't make it but never looked into it seriously. do recordings exist?
There are many, many bootlegs of live shows, but only one that I know of that contains studio recordings. It's about 11 hours long with quite a wide range of stuff. There are recordings of them practicing Stairway to Heaven at several stages, including an early acoustic version, one of the first times they played together, and a couple demo versions with different solos. It's pretty cool to hear the song develop.
If you read his blog post backwards, wackjobs will start emailing you instructions.
I never imagined they can have so many theories and studies on a single song.

Nevertheless Stairway to Heaven is indeed mystical, if you haven't heard that song (anyone?) go listen to it right now.

I think it's a great song, though I'm sure I'd appreciate it even more if I weren't constantly hearing about how it's such a great song.
Studies will one day find the overall tonality resonates with stoners brainwaves on a 1:1 ratio.
I heard once that the main verse of Stairway was written by Robert Plant one night when he was high on drugs. When he woke up, the lyrics were scribbled on a napkin.

Never been able to find if it's true or not. It's probably a greatly exaggerated rock legend.

I don't think the act of getting high and scribbling lyrics on napkins is exactly a low probability event for rock stars, so there could be a good chance this is actually true. :)
