Ask HN: Book recommendations to show family the world of software development?

Like a lot of people here, I'm the only software engineer in my family and sometimes I have trouble articulating exactly what it means to "write software." I thought Dreaming in Code might be a good read for curious family members, but was wondering if anyone else has thought about this and has other recommendations.
