Ask HN: Can the hide option be made less prone to fat fingering?

Ever since the "hide" option has been introduced at HN, I have fat fingered it on my mobile devices while trying to click the "N comments" link, which is just beside it, for a thread.

I then had to go scroll back to the top of the screen, then click on my profile and click on "hidden" and un-hide it from there (remember, all this on a mobile phone).

Would it be possible to show the hidden topics at the top of the page just beside the rest of the links? I understand that currently, the links at the top of the page aren't each user specific, so maybe that might be considered a not-so-good UX practice to include it there. So any other thoughts on how to make it easily accessible to get to the hidden topics or make it less likely to fat finger the "hide" option itself, by moving it someplace else?
