Ask HN: Any good listings of freelancers and gigs?

Hi there,

so I am a wanna-be entrepreneur who does freelancing to have some cash flow. I've never been a fan of sites like upwork, toptal, etc., because either I don't have any past history there (and therefore no "credibility" by their systems) or because they ask for interviews so that I can "be at the top 3%" (really?), etc. Also, I prefer not to have anyone between me and my clients.

By my preferences, I really enjoy what we have here in HN, namely the seeking work / seeking freelancer thread, which is in its essence, a pure raw list of wants and needs. Unfortunately it only runs once a month and there's not much you can do after you publish. On the other hand, there are websites like https://djangogigs.com/ that have some small lists, but they are mostly for specific stacks and the information is scarce.

My question is if anyone knows any good freelancing websites that I can use to post my info and read about gigs without having a middle man? And what is your experience with those sites mainly with the quality of contacts you get from there?
