Ask HN: Any tips on how to use code samples from your work for job searching?

I'm being let go from my first developer job due to the CEO wanting to go in a different direction. He's closing the branch I'm at. I've been here about 5 months now and have been working on the development of the javascript components for the front end using Ember and integrating them to consume the backend API.

I asked if I could use code samples of the current project I am working on and I've been approved but I'm not sure what exactly I will need for my job search. Any advice?
