very funny. very very funny.
What is more surprising/worrying to me is the twitter spam showing up in results:

eg "@newsycombinator the recursion thingy in google is old :)"
Why would I want twitterspam in my result pages by default?
Given that its probably a piece of python or java code spitting that out, it shouldn't be too surprising really. If it is C++, hmmm ... maybe they need a better compiler.
this is one more reason to love google. they don't take themselves too seriously to allow stuff like that.
I wonder if it's tail call optimized or you get to DOS Google by clicking one too many times on it...

Threads like this are how HN starts to become like reddit. I stopped reading reddit because of threads like this. The fact that this is the #1 post at the moment makes me think HN is overdue for another "Erlang Day".
I figured it would die quite quickly.. however apparently not

This was posted a few times ages and ages ago so I don't think it really counts as a "reddit" claim :) (though the commentary this time isn't as good - could just be because it is old)

A little light heartedness is never a problem IMO.

I disagree. I come here for things that are interesting, not lighthearted. Things that change my model of how the world works. As the concentration of interesting stuff goes down, people who only want to expose themselves to interesting stuff will turn elsewhere, resulting in a further decline of the ratio of interesting:funny on the site.

No funny!

Come on HN, you can do better than this!!
