Ask HN: OsiriX and fork experiences? (OS X DICOM imaging viewer)

So, as a long-time OsiriX user for medical images, the (open source) software has become more and more restrictive as its parent company tries to monetize. There have been 2 forks - Horos and OsirisLXIV - that are compiled without all the restrictions (forced delay in image opening, etc). Does anyone have experience with either? Will they bork the default DICOM image library?
