Ask HN: Were you fooled by the selective attention test?
I was talking with a programmer buddy of mine about the Selective Attention Test, which can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJG698U2Mvo
I told him I thought it was like an apocryphal story from Mike Royko: He was a celebrated Chicago journalist, and his team threw him a party when his new book came out. When all the junior journalists came up to have their book signed, he wrote: "You were always my favorite. Don't tell the others --Mike". So everybody thought they were special.
I told my friend I thought that the Selective Attention Test was like that -- nobody gets fooled by it, but hearing that some people do makes you feel special.
My buddy, who is pretty smart, told me that he was fooled. I honestly couldn't tell if he was serious, because sometimes he likes to troll me subtly.
If you've taken it, were you 'fooled' by it?
