Ask HN: How are world class data teams structured?

I'm doing some research into how data science and data engineering teams are structured in tech companies that build SaaS products - in particular, companies that have demonstrated leadership in using data in making decisions or improving the product experience.

In your experience, how are these teams organized best? Does data science and data engineering belong to an "Analytics" org, or does it fall within the realm of "Product"? For companies that use Agile development, does each Product Owner/Manager have access to a data engineer and data scientist, or are the data scientists/engineers in a separate team who consult with Product Owners as required?

Would be a great help if I could get some insights into how these teams are structured within the org.
