Apple didn't start out with a focus on great user experience. Their first computers forty years ago were kits of the Apple I, whose user interface was a BASIC interpreter. (Though, arguably, these machines were able to use a TV for a display, which was better than what other hobbyist kits were capable of). The UX era arguably began, perhaps, around the Apple Lisa [1983]: the precursor to the Mac [1984].
