Did anyone really expect anything to come of the Apple self-driving car project? Although they are a technology company, expanding into the auto industry doesn't seem very apple-y.

Naturally, the iCar will lack audio jacks and a cigarette lighter, to allows for a better form factor.

There's some truth to this. The rumors around here (I live in Cupertino and overhear a lot) was it was going to be a hydrogen fuel-cell car. They certainly were looking at it.

I still expect something to come of the project. It sounds like they are going more in a Cruise-like direction (only building the electronics, not the whole car) which makes a lot of sense.
