While I am optimistic about the human race being able to solve the global issues such as climate change, I feel we do not have the political will to do so without getting first to the brink of disaster.
We were on the brink of disaster when I was a kid in the '80s and basically just kept on going. We can't solve climate change anymore, because it's already arriving; all we can do now is try to adapt.

It seems the question now is one of mitigation.
