People are pumping up these rumors to unload the stock. There is absolutely no reason for Google to buy Twitter. None.

I can think of a couple of reasons:

i) Better integration of realtime search results. ii) A social network that's already established. Google wants a social network, but has failed spectacularly to create their own.

I agree it's probably complete nonsense though. But weirder things have happened. Apple bought Topsy, a Twitter analytics company, and shut that down, presumably for the data.

This is speculation, from a website not known for their reliability. Seeking Alpha make money off ads and click bait stories about stocks.

Perhaps the title could be edited to reflect this?

On mobile, if I click the link for reading the rest of the article I get a full screen and impossible to close popup asking me to download their app. Sigh.
