Peter Thiel and Acts of Kindness

I wanted to ask Hacker News about things that Mr. Thiel did that are philanthropic and/or kind. I read a lot of seemingly misinformation on the internet related to Mr. Thiel, some of the articles call him a Nazi, for example. I wanted to know more about the truth (instead of the information present in the media), because I've looked up to Mr. Thiel for a number of years now and I wanted to hear from people who actually know Mr. Thiel.. instead of journalists.
