(I assume this thread will be flagged and removed, but:)
Am I the only one who thinks this recording isn't that bad compared to all of the other horrible things he's said and policies he's proposed? He didn't seem to be saying he kisses/gropes women without their consent.
Again, no Trump fan here whatsoever, but I feel like calling Mexicans rapists or banning/deporting Muslims is worse than what he said in that recording.
What he did do though was indicate that he uses his social status to do things to women that abuse trust. He is bragging about this to another male, as if women were objects.
You're right, he's probably said and done far worse but not everything resonates with different kinds of people. So a wide variety of shock is required to turn all kinds of heads.
Regardless of what you think of Trump, it's very hard to claim that the media has been fair to him this election cycle. I think the man is a buffoon, but the media has consistently attacked him for relative trivialities while completely ignoring the massive collection of scandals and probable crimes committed by Clinton. From Hillary's illegal email hosting to the alarming emails Wikileaks has been consistently releasing, none of it has been picked up by major news outlets at all. On the other hand, Trump calling someone fat gets 24-hour news coverage for a week.
Then you have articles like this using weasel words to imply that Trump is losing broader republican support because a few prominent republicans tweeted bad things about him. It's just low-quality obviously-politically-motivated "journalism".
I wouldn't say it's low quality journalism. I'd say it's a side effect of the two-party system. This is what is currently news. Yes we don't have the strongest journalism in America, but NPR is reporting on what people are talking about. You mention the scuffle over Hillary Clinton, but fail to mention the media's lack of attention to other parties and candidates in the race. Yes the media needs some rebooting, but that isn't really what this article is about.

The other NYT story (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/09/opinion/sunday/donald-trum...) is far far worse and alleges full-on sexual assault, but it seems the victim's credibility may be questionable there, as explained in the article.
